An East Sussex man wanted for failing to appear at court for an offence at Heathfield has been arrested.

James Dunham, 34, of no fixed address, was arrested at an address in Lydd, Kent, on Friday May 23 as a result of a call from a member of the public and appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court the same day, on a warrant for failing to appear at court.

He was being prosecuted for inciting a girl under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity when he walked out of Lewes Crown Court and disappeared in January.

Dunham pleaded guilty to the charge on January 9 but made off after being released on bail to discuss the case with his solicitor in the court building.

Police appealed for help in finding him and thanked for their assistance.
