Police hunt Rustington dog fouling attacker

AN ARGUMENT about dog mess in Rustington turned violent, leaving a dog walker injured with a broken ankle.

The incident took place at about 5.30pm, on Thursday, August 11, near Broadmark Parade, when a 48-year-old Rustington man was assaulted by another dog walker who had refused to clear up his dog’s mess on the green area at the south end of Broadmark Lane, after being asked to do so by the victim.

The victim was then pushed to the floor by the suspect, which resulted in the broken ankle.

Police are now hunting for a man described as white, aged 65 and between 5ft 6in and 5ft 8in and of stocky build.

The suspect, who was walking a golden retriever dog at the time, is reported to have a distinctive white, pointed goatee beard and was wearing a baseball cap, a green bomber jacket with blue jogging bottoms with white stripes down the sides and trainers.

A spokeswoman from Arun District Council added that although people should take care to clear their pet’s waste, violence should never stem as a result of this.
