Police hunting Furnace Green sex attacker

A teenage girl was sexually assaulted on a footpath in Furnace Green, police say.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted as she walked alone through Waterlea Meadows, Furnace Green, Crawley.

A statement from Sussex Police said: “The girl was walking through a partially wooded area with numerous footpaths on Sunday 7 June sometime between 1pm and 4pm when she was approached by a man who grabbed her.

“She kicked him and he let go of her. She then ran back along a footpath that runs parallel to Norwich Road.

“The victim was so upset she did not report it until 17 June. The suspect is described as white, aged about 18, of skinny build and was wearing a grey tracksuit with a hooded top.”

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the victim or suspect, or who has any information, to contact police by emailing [email protected] or phone 101 quoting serial 1052 of 17/06.
