She added the alleged victim, a woman in her early 40s from Horsham, reported it on Monday (November 3).

“She had been in town when she met a man she knows and went to Horsham Park with him. He then forced her to have sex near to the North Parade end of the park.”

DS Laura Diamond said: “The victim describes the man as white, between 40 and 50-years-old with grey hair and stubble. He is medium build, about 5’ 6” and wearing a green coat.

“We are appealing to anyone who might have seen a woman in the area last Tuesday looking distressed. This is not random but the victim is extremely distressed by what has happened and we are giving her specialist support.
