Police raid Wick cannabis factory

POLICE officers uncovered a large cannabis factory at a house in Wick yesterday (Monday, December 12).

Officers attended a house in Belloc Road, Wick, at around 11.50am and discovered the whole house had been converted into a sophisticated cannabis factory with more than 500 mature plants inside.

They went to the house after a police officer found a car stopped with its doors open in Belloc Road and smelled cannabis.

She called at the nearest house and again smelled cannabis.

Two men at the house were arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and a search found the plants.

Detective sergeant Simon Dunn, from West Sussex CID, said: “This was a substantial find and I am pleased to report that we can now ensure these drugs do not hit the streets of Littlehampton and beyond.

“The factory is in the process of being dismantled and the equipment and plants are being forensically examined.

“This was really good pro-active policing by the officer who basically followed her nose.
