A man was caught by police driving with a dog on his lap on the A272.

The man was halted during a two-day crackdown on speeding bikers in Wisborough Green and Ditchling.

Officers say they gave the driver ‘words of advice’ and he ‘saw the error of his ways.’

Meanwhile, the officers stopped 10 motorcyclists for speeding offences and another for overtaking on a section of road with double white lines.

One of the riders is now to appear in court for three speeding offences and not having insurance.

A police spokesman said: “We also used the new decibel meter and two motorcyclists were stopped and given fixed penalty notices for excessive noise.

“Both had aftermarket exhausts fitted that did not have the British Kitemark which means the product is not recognised by the British Standards Group for safety and quality.”
