Police tackle drug dealing in Langney

Eastbourne Police have pledged to continue their crackdown against people openly dealing drugs in Langney.

The clampdown follows a string of complaints from concerned residents about people selling and using drugs in the area.

Etchingham Road and Langney Rise have been highlighted by residents who say drugs users are injecting themselves, leaving drugs paraphernalia dumped in public areas and people are openly dealing drugs in broad daylight.

The residents say their safety is compromised as is the welfare of children on their way to school.

Police and Eastbourne council say they are aware of the complaints and have pledged to tackle the problem.

Inspector Rachel Barrow at Eastbourne Police said, “We are aware of this issue and have a report allocated to a local officer to revisit this following a meeting with housing colleagues last week who also raised this as a concern.

“We will continue police enforcement around drug supply and its associated harm in the Langney area.

“It is and will remain a concern in addition to the town centre, seafront and the local parks and gardens.”
