Woman attacked and ‘put into shopping trolley’ in Crawley: police call for witnesses

Police in Crawley are seeking witnesses after a young woman was attacked and mistreated by two other women in the street.

Sussex Police said the incident happened between 7pm and 8.30pm on Thursday (June 24).

They said that ‘a particularly vulnerable 21-year-old woman’ was put into a shopping trolley in Springfield Road, Crawley, by two other women of a similar age and was pushed to the entrance of Goffs Park.

“The three are known to each other,” said a police spokesperson.

“She got free there and ran towards the level crossing in Horsham Road at the junction of Springfield Road but could not get across as the barriers were closed,” police said.

“The two suspects got hold of her again and pulled her back to the park, where they left her,” police added.

PC Stefania Henderson said; “At the time of this incident there were several vehicles waiting at the level crossing.
