Police warning after garage break-in rise in Littlehampton

RESIDENTS in Littlehampton have been warned to be on their guard, following a number of garage break-ins in the town, police have said this week.

The majority have been within the Beach Ward, in the evening, during the bank holiday weekend.

Overnight between Saturday, August 25, and Sunday, August 26, break-ins are reported to have taken place at two garages, in Tideway, where three bikes were stolen.

A further two break-ins occurred in Seagate Walk and Neptune Way, however, on these occasions, nothing was taken.

Police are now advising residents to ensure they have adequate security as well as keeping garden sheds and garages locked and secure.

A ‘T’ bar lock can be secured to the ground externally or stand alone alarms can be purchased that rely on motion and infrared detection.

Officers have added that if your garage gives access to your house you should also consider additional security for the internal door, too.

Anyone with any information about the recent crimes can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
