Probe launched into care home allegations

TWO care home workers have been arrested on suspicion of neglect.

A 26-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested at Oak View Care Home, in Beach Road, Hayling Island.

Both suspects are on police bail pending ongoing inquiries.

They are due to answer bail next month.

A police spokesman added: ‘At this time, there are no charges and there is no information at this time to link these allegations to any other cases or care homes.

‘Hampshire Constabulary is working closely with Hampshire County Council to keep families and staff at the care home informed about the situation, provide reassurance and ensure their welfare while enquiries are continuing.’

The registered manager of Oak View has declined to comment.

Councillor Anna McNair, who is in charge of adult social care in Hampshire, said: ‘All allegations of abuse in whatever form are extremely serious. We are working with the managers of the home to support the residents and their relatives during this difficult time.’

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
