“The driver of the black BMW 330, a 20-year-old man from Maresfield, sustained a minor arm injury. He was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, but de-arrested in order for him to receive hospital treatment. Enquiries are continuing.”

Police, ambulance and fire services all scrambled to the scene of the collision, and the road was closed for several hours for forensic examination.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it, or anyone with dash cam – specifically involving the black BMW and a silver Honda Civic being driven in the area – to contact them.
