Police are warning Peacehaven residents to be vigilant after a spate of vehicle crime in the area between Thursday (June 19) and Saturday (June 21).

PC Anna Batchelor, of the Peacehaven Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have taken nine reports of break-ins to parked cars over the weekend.

“It appears that the offender is entering the vehicles via an insecure door.

“Small items have been taken in some cases, but most of the vehicles have been searched through with nothing stolen.

“We are increasing our patrols in the area and are seeking to stop this activity as soon as possible.

“In the meantime you can help by making sure you lock your vehicles and haven’t left anything of value in them.

“If you have seen anything that would assist us please call 101 or email quoting serial 1330 of 19/06.

You can also contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
