Sports coach charged with sex offences on teenage girls in the Horsham district

A sports coach has been charged with sexual offences on teenage girls in the Horsham district.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Martin O’Hara, 49, of Medmerry Hill, Brighton, has been charged with five offences of indecent assault on a teenage girl then aged between 14 and 16 between 1993 and 1996.

“He has also been charged with four offences of engaging in sexual activity, with a girl then aged 13 to 15 between 2008 and 2011, and with one offence of sexual assault on the same girl between 2011 and 2012.”

All the alleged incidents are said to have occurred in the Horsham district.

Mr O’Hara appeared at a plea and case management hearing at Lewes Crown Court today (Monday June 16). pleaded not guilty, and is currently on court bail.

He is due to appear for trial at Crown Court on February 16 2015.

The charges, authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service, follow an investigation by West Sussex child protection detectives.
