Surrey man denies the murder of a Loxwood footballer

A Surrey man charged with the murder of Loxwood footballer Suel Delgado denied the offence when he appeared by video link at Lewes Crown Court yesterday.

Police say that Iftekhar Khondaker, 34, of Caithness Road, Mitcham, is charged with the murder of 20-year-old Suel, from Crawley, and two counts of attempted murder of two other men in Brighton on December 1 last year.

Irfan Khondaker, 26, unemployed, also of Caithness Road, Mitcham, has been charged with assisting an offender. Both pleaded not guilty to all the charges and were remanded in custody.

A provisional trial date has been set for August 3 at Lewes Crown Court.
