Teen punched and kicked in '˜nasty' Shoreham attack

A '˜nasty' attack on a 16-year-old girl in Shoreham has left her '˜scared to go out', according to a councillor.

Police confirmed a 16-year-old girl was punched and kicked after she responded to youths on bikes, who were shouting insults at her 15-year-old sister, in Beach Green at around 10pm on Friday, June 2.

The teenager was treated for minor facial injuries by paramedics, police said, adding: “Despite enquiries, no further information has emerged and no suspects have been identified.”

Marine Ward councillor Joss Loader said the incident had caused ‘huge distress, trauma and upset’ to the teenager, who was sitting her GCSE exams at the time.

She said she was ‘a strong supporter of the police’ but criticised the lack of public appeals for witnesses.

She called the attack ‘unacceptable’ and urged anyone who saw the incident to contact police.

Police have since issued descriptions of the four youths.

All are aged 13/14 and of slim build, around 5ft 6ins, police said.
