Thieves break in to Worthing house in broad daylight

A safe containing cash was stolen during a burglary in broad daylight in Worthing, police said.

The thieves forced open the front door of a house in Highdown Avenue at about 3.30pm on Monday April 18, according to the force.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “A small safe containing a quantity of cash was stolen.

“Three men were seen running away from the address along Highdown Avenue before climbing into a blue ‘sporty’ type car that drove off at speed, turning right into Rectory Road and heading south.”

Police investigator Tom Carpenter said; “The offenders were particularly brazen. At that time of day schools had recently finished and the area is likely to have been busy.

“Anyone who saw anything of what happened, or who has any other information is asked to contact Sussex Police via [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 966 of 18/04.”
