In the early hours on Saturday (August 22) owner of The Rock Shop in Selsey High Street, Sanjay Patel, was woken up by calls from his staff as they arrived to work.

CCTV footage of the incident shows two hooded men clearing shelves in the shop at about 3.45am, about two hours before The Rock Shop staff arrived.

Mr Patel said: ""The took cigarettes, alcohol and cash from the till. The till was completely cleared. We estimate about £10,000 — it was mainly cigarettes and they just took them in bin bags and they have taken out [cigarette] draws and just taken it away.

"It's a pain because it happened on a busy day for the business. We are always busy on Saturdays and we lost four and a half hours business and on top of that we have lost everythin which is sad."

Cigarettes have been traceable since last year, Sanjay said, which he hopes will help police catch the culprits.

"We found some in bushes — I think they couldn't carry them because they had like six one litre bottles of alcohol."

Sussex Police has been approached for more information.
