Thieves take money from Bognor charity shop

Charity shop owners are being warned to remove any cash from their premises overnight after The British Heart Foundation store in Bognor Regis was broken into.

The burglary happened last night (Thursday July 31) when thieves broke in and stole money from the safe.

The incident is now being investigated by local officers.

A police spokesperson said: “Police would urge other charity shops to ensure any cash is removed from the premises overnight and signs to this effect placed in the window. Any theft is deplorable, but when money is stolen from charities it somehow makes the actions of the thief even more reprehensible and all efforts will be made to track down those responsible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police on 101, quoting serial 0251 of 31 July. Alternatively call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
