The police have explained why a helicopter was flying over Whitehawk in Brighton this afternoon (February 17).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said the helicopter was assisting officers searching for a potential stolen motorbike.

The motorbike was reportedly stolen from an address in Coolam Drive, the spokesman said. There have been no further sightings, he added.

The helicopter stood down and landed by Brighton Racecourse.
