Two Boxing Day burglaries in one Mayfield street

Detectives investigating two burglaries in Fletching Street, Mayfield, believe they may be linked and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

Both break-ins appear to have occurred on Boxing Day (December 26) - possibly after dark - and both took place while occupants were out.

Two televisions and a DVD player were stolen from one property, a semi-detached cottage, suggesting that thieves had a vehicle nearby with which to transport them.

A lap-top computer and jewellery are among items missing from the other property, a three-bedroom terraced cottage.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who saw people acting suspiciously in Fletching Street on Friday or Saturday or who saw or heard anything unusual in the area.

Anyone with information should email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or phone 101, quoting serial 0607 of 27/12 (semi-detached cottage) or 1265 of 27/12 (terraced cottage).

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers free and anonymously on 0800 555111.
