Two boys, 14, arrested on suspicion of arson after major Horsham fire

Two boys were arrested by police on suspicion of arson after a major fire on the outskirts of Horsham.

The boys, who were both aged 14, have now been released under investigation, police said.

Officers were called by fire crews to a fire in Old Wickhurst Lane in Horsham at 4.45pm on Tuesday (11 August), a police spokesman added.

Firefighters were tackling a major blaze which had spread to between ten and 20 acres in a field off the A264 at Highwood.

The fire service said the fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

The police spokesman added: “Anyone who witnessed what happened can report online or call 101, quoting serial 1157 of 11/08.”
