Two hidden knives found in Whitehawk

Police community support officers patrolling in Whitehawk discovered two knives yesterday.

A photo was posted on Twitter showing an officer holding up two knives discovered hidden during the patrol - along with the comment 'keeping you safe'.

Figures released earlier this year showed knife crime in Sussex to have increased over the last five years.

Home Office figures showed that Sussex Police recorded 288 crimes in which knives were used between October 2016 and September 2017, an increase of 4% on the same period in 2012-13.
