Two Lewes police officers have been charged with dangerous driving.

PC James Latter, 30, and PC Alan Harris, 30, have been summonsed to court to face the charge of dangerous driving following a collision in Chilgrove, Chichester, at 1.20pm on Saturday, July 11, said police.

A third officer – PC Ahmet Yapicioz, 53, based at Gatwick, has also been charged.

The three riders, all off-duty police officers, were travelling south towards Chichester when the collision happened, police said.

Two of the motorcyclists suffered multiple injuries when they collided with a red Ford Fiesta.

The driver of the red Ford Fiesta involved, an 80-year-old man from Chichester and his female passenger sustained minor injuries, a police spokesman said.

PC Yapicioz and PC Harris were also summonsed with driving at a speed exceeding 60 miles an hour, the spokesman added.

The three officers will appear at Worthing Magistrates’ court on Tuesday (February 9).
