UPDATE: Horsham town centre pursuit - suspect at large

Police are on the hunt for a man after reports of a shoplifter who made threats to staff in a Horsham town centre store this afternoon (Friday June 21).

The police helicopter was launched after the incident in TK Maxx at 11am.

What started as a case of shoplifting seemed to escalate into a major pursuit.

Witnesses report that the man headed towards Denne Road and allegedly threatened police with a syringe.

Sussex Police is urging anyone who sees the man to contact 999 immediately.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: Sussex Police were called to TK Maxx at 11am on June 21 to a report of a shoplifter who was making threats to staff.

“Officers and helicopter were sent to the area to search for the suspect, who had fled the scene.

“The suspect is described as a white man wearing a striped t-shirt and jeans.

“Anyone who sees him is asked to contact police on 999.”
