Smashed alcohol bottles and drug paraphernalia have been found at a cherished community park sparking a hunt for the culprits.

An artisan bandstand, named The Roundhouse, was built in Easebourne Park earlier this year and is the culmination of work and investment from a number of community groups. Artisan bandstand in Easebourne Park will be ‘enjoyed by generations to come’Over the past few weeks litter has been appearing at the stand and, most recently, smashed vodka bottles and evidence of cannabis use were found at The Roundhouse with the shards of glass being 'pushed between floorboards' and even 'thrown into the nearby dens', the parish council has said.

Ian Milne, the lead councillor at Easebourne Parish Councillor, said: "Over the last ten days there has been a group of older youths using [The Roundhouse]. They are welcome to but they have left ends of cigarettes, bent cans, broken bottles and spliffs.

"On three or four occasions councillors are having to clean it. One one occasion we came down and found there had been vodka and beer bottles smashed all around. We are now getting concerned, this is dangerous for dogs and children - this anti-social behaviour is very upsetting.

The council has since employed a guard who has been working hard to find those responsible, Ian said, "We have engaged a local security company, Protec, which will work to identify those responsible.

"We are just at a bit of a loss as to how we should deal with this - it will only get worse in the summer," he added.

A spokesman for the parish council said in a statement: "If you have any knowledge about who is mistreating The Roundhouse or suspect you know any of the culprits, please help us to get this under control so we can get back to focusing on the next positive additions to the Park rather than spending time, effort and money on only the negative things."
