Woman chased and attacked in Eastbourne street by man with knife

A man with a knife chased a woman in an Eastbourne street, according to police.

A spokesman said: “At about 4.10pm on Friday, 7 May, a woman was seen to run across traffic in Lewes Road, Eastbourne, being chased by a man who was carrying a knife.

“As the woman in her late thirties, approached the front door of a house then she was grabbed by the man and was pulled back across the road into a flat in Lewes Road near Enys Road.”

Police said officers arrived and chased two suspects.

Two men, both aged 19, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

One was also arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and possessing a Class A drug, according to police.

The men have been released on police bail until June 4 while enquiries continue.

The woman was treated for a knife injury to her arm as well as cuts and bruising, according to police.
