Sussex Police said officers were called to a shop in Broadwater Street, Worthing at around 2.30pm on Tuesday (June 4), to a ‘report of an altercation’ involving ‘a member of staff and two men’.
“The member of staff suffered facial injuries and has been taken to hospital for treatment,” a police spokesperson said.
"An increased police presence is expected in the area at this time while enquiries are ongoing.
“Any information is asked to be reported to police online or by calling 101 quoting reference 752 of 04/06.”
Police cordoned off part of the pavement in Broadwater Street East on Tuesday afternoon.
The Sussex Sweet Shop was closed to customers, with an ambulance also pictured on the opposite side of the road.
