Crisp packet from the 1960s found on Littlehampton beach

Little Angus Rolfe was digging with his three brothers when he made the unusual discovery.

His father Nick said the family have found it a ‘fascinating’ find.

“My wife Kathryn was with them on the beach just walking along and they started digging around near the dune,” said the 46-year-old.

“They brought it home and we looked at the back and it’s got a competition with a closing date of 1968.”

Action group Surfers Against Sewage has asked to use the crisp packet as part of a campaign to fight against sewage and litter on the beach.

He said: “It just goes to show that this sort of stuff does not biodegrade and stays there for years and years.”
