Crossroads Christmas Fair

THERE was a good reason why Parkhurst Hall was abuzz with activity this morning.

Supporters of Hastings and Rother Crossroads are particularly keen to raise money at the moment, as administrator Jan Fuller explained as the Christmas fair got into full swing.

Crossroads offers respite care for home carers and has recently opened a new centre in Hastings, capable of accommodating 45 people a day.

Everyone was lending a hand, including Caroline Ansell, who had a display of her own hand-made Christmas cards on sale.

Together with Bexhill Museum, Hastings and Rother Crossroads is the subject of Town Mayor Cllr Paul Lendon's mayoral appeal.

His Worship was supporting the event on Saturday morning.

He explained: "I feel that lots of people are caring for others who have some illness or problem or other and do not get enough respite.

"Crossroads carers are used to coping with all kinds of illness. So many people do so much work looking after someone and it is so important for them to get some space. Crossroads staff are trained and that gives confidence to carers to so out and enjoy themselves."
