More than 30 young anglers enjoyed the 11th annual Junior Coaching Day organised by Crowborough & District Anglers Association, in conjunction with coaches from the Angling Trust, on a local Crowborough lake last weekend.
Pennybridge Lake, which was developed with the aid of Sports Lottery funding, includes disabled access for the Association’s members and day ticket anglers, and has become the regular venue for this popular event.
Led by head coach Alan Sandom, his team, Dave and Les, provided instruction to keen young anglers at the waterside.
The Environment Agency was present and represented by local fisheries’ technical officer Joe Kitanosono.
Participants were divided between morning and afternoon sessions, with both sessions providing plenty of action for the young anglers who had to contend with high winds all day.
The day was enjoyed by all, with many catching for their first time.
The coaches were funded by the Environment Agency and the day was supported by Crowborough & District Anglers Association and many local businesses, with fishing equipment being donated by several local fishing tackle shops and tackle firms.
Each junior participant was given a wonderful selection of fishing equipment.
