THE ROYAL National Institute for the Blind urgently needs people to help empty Sooty collection boxes in Crowborough.
Charity spokesman Russell Rolph said: “It takes about two hours to empty four of our Sooty collection boxes. This income would pay for a youngster with sight loss to spend a day on one of our vacation schemes trying new leisure activities and making new friends.
“It takes about eight hours to empty 12 boxes. This would help us identify the right equipment and support for a blind or partially sighted child to get the most out of their schooling.
“Your time will open doors for youngsters with sight loss - so much of what we do at RNIB is driven by Sooty.”
He said people with flexible time are needed and can help empty boxes on a two hours a week or month basis, whichever they find convenient. They can empty boxes and bank the income or concentrate on finding new homes for them. This kind of support is needed in Crowborough.
The charity’s ‘Sooty-time Givers’ also need looking after - and if you have experience of looking after small teams and helping new team members feel welcome - then there is a warm welcome for you too.
Access to a car is essential, mileage costs and out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed. To find out more about flexible Sooty Time Giving - please contact Russell on: 01480 355596, or by email at: email@example.com.
