Crowborough fire crews rescue fox stuck down sewage tank

Two crews from Crowborough spent nearly two hours yesterday (Monday December 1) freeing a fox stuck down a sewage tank in Wadhurst.

At 2.30pm they were called to Whitegates Lane, Wadhurst, with the animal rescue unit, known as the uni-mog.

This is a purpose-built Mercedes fitted with a hydraulic crane, capable of lifting farm animals from open water and ditches.

It took firefighters until 4.12pm to lift the animal to safety with the assistance of a dog grasper, which is a piece of equipment that has a noose on the end, often seen being used to retrieve dangerous dogs.
