Crowhurst man smashed window after girlfriend row

A frustrated Crowhurst man punched and smashed a window by kicking it following an argument with his girlfriend, a court heard.

Dekka Collins, 20, lost his temper during a night in Hastings town centre but was later caught by police thanks to CCTV footage.

At a court hearing on Monday, Claire Prodger, prosecuting, said: "During the early hours of February 27, police were informed by CCTV that a man had smashed a window in Claremont.

"The offender had left the scene heading into Cambridge Road before running into Cambridge Gardens.

"Police saw a man leave a basement flat - this defendant – and he was arrested.

"He made full admissions in interview and said he had an argument with his girlfriend and punched a window in a temper before kicking it, causing it to smash. He apologised and said he was willing to pay for the damage."

Collins, of Blacksmiths Field, Crowhurst, pleaded guilty to criminal damage when he appeared before Hastings magistrates today (Tuesday).

Ronan Crummy, defending, said: "The defendant showed remorse and made an offer to recompense the aggrieved."

Magistrates fined Collins 110, ordered 50 compensation and 85 court costs.
