Crowns fit for a Queen

CREATIVE youngsters in Middleton got into the Diamond Jubilee spirit by making crowns fit for a queen.

Children from the village’s Jubilee Pre-school marked the Queen’s 60th year by showing off their own regal head pieces.

Pre-school leader Betty Labron said the little ones, all aged between two and four, had enjoyed learning about the Queen and the royal family.

“We have spent a lot of time with the children teaching them about the royal family. We wanted them to understand they are just like us.

“They live in a house like we do, they have pets like we do and they are all a family,” she said.

The children spent about a week making the crowns and were each given a flag and a commemorative mug.

“I think its really nice for the children to have something to keep to remember the day.

“A lot of them will probably remember this celebration for the rest of their lives,” added Betty.
