Cubs go sky high for centenary

A group of 30 Cubs from Felpham went 'flying' to celebrate the centenary of Scouting.

The youngsters took to the air to mark the occasion when they boarded the London Eye.

Their time in the landmark's capsules was the highlight of a day in London.

They were able to revel in the fantastic views across the capital on a rare sunny summer's day. The James Bond headquarters of MI6 were a particular favourite.

The Sunday outing began with a train trip to the capital where the Cubs headed for HMS Belfast and joined in activities such as semaphore signalling and singing sea shanties.

The walk along the River Thames to the London Eye took them past the Tate Modern, the Globe Theatre and a host of performing artists.

After their '˜flight', they walked past Big Ben and Parliament on their way back to Victoria station and Bognor.

The money for the trip was raised by the 245 in sponsorship from the almost 250 lengths swum by two teams of Cubs and another of leaders and parents in last October's Swimathon held by Bognor Regis Lions.
