Cycling test fee dropped

Plans to enforce a charge on cycling proficiency training for primary school youngsters have been abandoned by West Sussex County Council.

The U-turn decision has been made after new funding was found to run the scheme that costs around 100,000 a year.

Earlier this year a proposal to introduce a 15 charge for the week long training was put on hold by West Sussex Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Cllr Tex Pemberton.

It has now been agreed that the scheme will remain free and be paid for from the highways budget until March 2008.
