Cygnets toddle for Barnado's

PARENTS and children from Cygnets Childcare Centre toddled around Egerton Park this week to raise funds for Barnado's Early Years project.

It was the fourth year running the Bexhill group had taken part in the Barnado's Big Toddle event, which has been running nationally since 1996.

Last year, around half a million children registered for events across the country in what has become the UK's biggest sponsored event for children under 5.

Early Years funds projects throughout the UK for disadvantaged and vulnerable children under 5. This includes services for children with disabilities, young carers, as well as parents in need of support.

Lisa Rogers, Deputy Childcare Organiser, said: "It was a lovely day. The weather was nice which helps and lots of parents turned up to support the children as well. We had a local music group, Caterpillar Music, to do some warming up, some actions songs, before we toddled twice around the park.

"It made it a bit more of an event. The children enjoyed using the musical instruments. We had some fruit and bits in the park afterwards."

Cygnets Childcare Centre, established four years ago, works closely with Egerton Park Children's Centre, located at the same site. 97 children under five are on their register.
