Dairy Scoops Windfall

A WINDFALL of just under 250,000 is winging its way to Littlehampton to be spent on voluntary organisations.

The Council for Voluntary Service in Arun (CVS), together with Littlehampton Town Council, was celebrating news of the government cash on Tuesday.

The money, 243,600, the biggest single scoop and part of 1.5million earmarked for voluntary and community groups in the south-east, will support the first stage of developing the Dairy Community Centre, Church Street.

The second floor will soon be able to offer accommodation and practical support for up to five small groups, hopefully by April, 2002.

The idea is to allow desk space for voluntary organisations which is affordable and accessible.

The CVS has already seen many small groups expand under its roof and leave to bigger premises, such as the Beehive Club, Sofas n Stuff and Sage.
