On Sunday January 17 students, parents, grannies and granddads were invited to get their funk on and strut their stuff for this very worthwhile cause.

The dance marathon lasted six hours and participants could opt-in for the full event or choose a selection of sessions such as Scottish dancing, Zumba, Party Freestyle and Strictly inspired Fit Steps.

50 participants aged from 5 to 65 attended the event and Ariel raised an incredible £420 for Chestnut Tree House.

Bev Locke, Ariel Principal said: “We are delighted to have raised so much money for Chestnut Tree House, they do invaluable work supporting sick children and their families.

“I would like to thank all the students and their families who turned out.

“A big thank you also goes to Oakmeeds Community College who kindly let us use their premises for free, and to the tutors and dance teachers who gave up their free time. We hope to make this an annual fundraising event.”
