Dates for freeChristmascar parking

Rother District Council has decided to continue with its traditional suspension of charges in some car parks in the run-up to Christmas, despite the tough financial climate.

The authority is currently undertaking a car parking review to increase income, but councillors rejected the idea of stopping free Christmas parking this year.

It means some of the district’s busiest car parks will be free to park in on certain days.

In Bexhill, there will be free parking in the De La Warr and Eversley Road car parks on December 10/11, December 17/18 and December 22/23/24.

Rother District Council leader Cllr Carl Maynard said: “Although we are looking at possible changes to our car parking charges in the future, we recognise the importance of providing free parking at Christmas, both to help local businesses and to provide a goodwill gesture to our residents.”
