Day services for elderly relaunch in Bexhill

The centre for older people's day services was launched on Wednesday (January 20).

Charity Sussex Community Development Association has taken over the day services and will be delivering them from the Charter Centre, London Road.

The launch was celebrated y a host of dignitaries including East Sussex County Cllrs Bill Bentley and Michael Ensor, Bexhill mayor Maurice Watson and Rother District Cllr Joy Hughes.

There was also a party with a two course meal, entertainment from cabaret band The Bling Crosbies and a pottery demonstration from Julie Snowball.

SCDA manager Ruairi McCourt said: “It was lovely to see our older clients enjoying themselves at the centre.

“There was a really positive vibe on the day and we are looking forward to developing new services for those coping with dementia and their carers in the future.”

The Centre is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9am-5pm and will provide stimulating activities for over 65s such as art & crafts, gentle exercises and entertainment.
