De La Warr cost

ROTHER's current Â£500,000 grant aid to the De La Warr Pavilion Trust costs each mid-range Band D Council Tax-payer Â£14.41 a year.

The figure is revealed by Rother leader Cllr Carl Maynard in response to a question posed on his Ask The Leader slot on the www.rother.gov.uk website.

The leader provided a table showing that the cost ranges from 9.61 for a Band A property to 28.82 for a Band H property.

Cllr Maynard says of the table: "This is based on the whole cost falling on the residents of Rother.

"However, it should be noted that the Government provides funding equal to half the council's net spending after taking account of fees, rental income and specific grants.

"Therefore, the actual charge to the residents of Rother is approximately half those quoted..."
