De La Warr's top award

Sponsored by Rix & Kay Solicitors, one of the county's leading firms of solicitors, the award was presented at a glamorous dinner at the Copthorne Effingham Park, Gatwick hosted by Southern FM's Danny and Nicky.

With its proximity to Bexhill's unspoilt beach, free admission to the galleries and many other events, the new De La Warr Pavilion has quickly become established as a new cultural destination in the South East , as well as a popular day out for families and tourists.

On accepting the award, Alan Haydon, Director of the Pavilion said :

"We have had half a million visitors in our first year. What more can you ask for? We have the best contemporary art in the South East, the best views along the south coast, the best food and I believe we are the best building in the world. I would like to thank the whole team, the Trustees, our investors and our loyal supporters for helping us achieve this prestigious award."
