The original Defra flood support scheme covered the period December 1, 2013, to March 31, 2014.

However, it was extended to cover from April 1 to December 1, 2013, as well.

This means if you have a residential or business property and were affected by internal flooding between April 1 to December 1, 2013 or have a small or medium-sized business in flood-affected areas that had been affected by the floods and suffered a significant loss of trade, you could be eligible for help.

Councillor Terence Chapman, cabinet member for environmental services at Arun District Council, said: “The district council is not aware of any reports of significant flooding within this extended period, but if you believe you have been affected, we would urge you to contact the council after looking at the qualifying criteria.”

Anyone who is unsure whether they qualify can call Phil Graham on 01903 737920 or email [email protected]

Potential applicants must contact the council by Thursday (January 15).

This funding has been made possible on a national level by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
