Deadline looms to apply for a Queen’s Jubilee street party in Wealden District

THERE IS STILL TIME to prepare for a Diamond Jubilee street party in Wealden District.

Applicants have until April 25 to apply for a road closure order from Wealden District Council in time for the Jubilee long weekend of June 2 to 5.

This will give the council time to carry out a necessary consultation with emergency services to make sure vital access routes are not affected.

Cllr Jonica Fox, chairman of the district authority, said: “Wealden District Council wants to make it easy for our communities to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

“We hope that as many neighbourhoods as possible will take this once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate a historic event for the United Kingdom.”

Applications for a road closure are free and you can download a form from the Parking, Roads and Travel section of

But make sure the application is sent to the district council by the April 25 deadline.
