Death crash suspect bailed

A MAN accused of causing the death of 62-year-old Alexander 'Alec' Burke, of Morgan Close, by the manner of his driving on February 15 this year appeared before Hastings magistrates last Thursday, June 2.

Samuel Squires, 22, of Ninfield Road, Sidley, was remanded on unconditional bail until the case comes before Lewes Crown Court on Friday, September 2.

Mr Burke’s Honda Civic car and a Vauxhall Astra driven by Mr Squires were in collision at the junction of Cooden Drive and Westcourt Drive, Bexhill, on the morning of Tuesday, February 15 this year.

Mr Burke was declared dead at the scene. His funeral took place on March 3 at Eastbourne Crematorium.
