Decision time for Hailsham store plan

TENSION HANGS OVER Hailsham with a decision looming this week as to whether another big supermarket store will be built in the town centre.

Derbyshire County Council, owners of the Quintins site, want permission to build a 1,407sqm food store with units and to re-develop the car park area.

A planning officer has recommended the planning committee south at Wealden District Council approve the revised plans at a meeting this Thursday, October 13.

The recommendation comes despite a storm of opposition by residents, businesses and town councillors.
