Dedicate a silver star to a missed loved one

WITH Christmas nearly upon us, many people’s thoughts turn to the loved ones who are no longer there to celebrate with them.

The St Michael’s Hospice Lights of Love scheme offers the opportunity to dedicate silver stars to remember loved ones who are no longer with us.

One supporter who has dedicated stars for a number of years is Aimee Rowley, 31.

Aimee said: “I could probably fill half a tree with dedications to those I have loved and lost and I can’t think of a better way to remember them than to light a star in their memory.

“My poppa, nan and mum were all touched by the miracle that is St Michael’s Hospice and I know that they would be proud to see me continuing the support that they once gave.”

This year the Lights of Love services will take place on Sunday December 9 at 3pm.

Official Illumination ceremonies will follow at 4pm.

Services will be held at the hospice grounds and locations in Hastings Old Town, Battle, Bexhill, Rye and Ticehurst.

Aimee continued: “Whether it was respite, palliative care or the Hospice at Home team, my family and I were always amazed by the support and companionship provided by St Michael’s.

“That’s why every year I help light up the magnificent trees by dedicating a star to celebrate the lives of those who made Christmas for me.”
