Deliberate blaze destroys Chichester industrial container

An industrial unit was almost completely destroyed by a blaze in Chichester last night.

Firefighters from Chichester were at the scene of the fire, which was started deliberately, in Quarry Lane yesterday evening (October 23).

A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said the fire was started deliberately, and two pumps were called to the incident at a small industrial unit used for storing scrap metal.

Crews were called out at 11.45pm and it took more than two hours to make the area safe.

The container received 80 per cent fire damage.

Firefighters left the scene at 2am.
