Kevin Boorman, manager of 1066 Country Marketing, said he was delighted at the news. He commented: “We have been working to promote this area for over twenty years now, and know that Rye is one of the jewels in our crown.

“The whole team is pleased and excited at taking on the marketing of Rye again, as well as marketing as part of wider 1066 Country. We have an excellent in-house team of marketing, communications and tourism professionals, and our own graphic designers, meaning that nothing is outsourced.

“We are all local ourselves, so know just how important the visitor economy is to Rye, and we will do our very best to ensure that we generate maximum tourism spend in the town, building on our contacts with Tourism South East, Visit England, VisitBritain, and the travel trade.

“We will shortly be holding an informal ‘drop-in’ session in Rye for all of those involved in tourism in the town to come and talk to us. We know most of those involved in tourism in the town already, of course, but it will be good to meet old friends again, and talk to everyone about our plans for the rest of this year, and the 2013 season.”
